A paste of Amla powder and water soaked overnight, can be mixed with papaya pulp, honey, or rose water to make a face pack for skin lightening, pimples, acne or pigmentation. Amla when added to henna makes for a natural hair colourant. (Indigo paste application turns this auburn hair colour to brown-black colour. A paste of Amla, Reetha and Shikakai soaked for 2-3 hours when applied to hair for 20 minutes before washing, makes hair thick, strong and shiny. Its vitamin C nourishes the scalp and prevents dandruff and iron prevents premature greying.
